Despite the growing trend of NFL teams playing their starters in the preseason, Atlanta Falcons head coach Raheem Morris is taking a more cautious approach. The team did not play many starters in last week's preseason opener, and Morris isn't planning on changing his mind anytime soon.

Michael Penix Jr. is the starter when the regular season opens and head coach Raheem Morris declared he would not play his second-year quarterback this week.

The Atlanta Falcons signed veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins to a massive contract last offseason in NFL free agency. However, they also doubled down at quarterback and drafted Michael Penix Jr. early in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
