Severance, Andor, The Penguin, and The Last of Us headline a big year for genre TV with the 2025 Primetime Emmy Award nominations.

"Severance," "The White Lotus," and "The Studio" also all received 10 or more craft nominations. After that, nominations were spread out among Emmy hopefuls: “Andor” (Disney+) and “The Last of Us” (HBO) each received nine;

Next up is The Penguin with 24 nominations, including for Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited or Anthology Series or Movie (Colin Farrell), Outstanding Lead Actress (Cristin Milioti) and Outstanding Supporting Actress (Deirdre O’Connell).

Shows hosted by Jon Stewart (“The Daily Show”), Stephen Colbert (“The Late Show”) and Jimmy Kimmel (“Jimmy Kimmel Live”) will compete for best talk series. Only three series were nominated this year, leaving “Late Night With Seth Meyers” and “Everybody’s Live With John Mulaney” out in the cold.

The 76th Annual Emmy Awards will honor series that aired between June 1, 2024 and May 31, 2025. The 77th annual Primetime Emmy Awards are set to take place on Sunday, September 14, live on CBS at 8:00 p.m. ET/ 5:00 p.m. PT. Nate Bargatze will be hosting the awards show.
