The New York Mets lost 6-5 to the St. Louis Cardinals in the first half of their doubleheader on Sunday afternoon despite their best efforts to come back from a four-run deficit. Starting pitcher Blake Tidwell allowed all six runs across 3.2 innings in his big-league debut, and that was enough to do them in.

The New York Mets (22-11) will visit the St. Louis Cardinals (14-19), in the second game of a three-game series, Sunday at 6:15 p.m. ET.
