The State Department has issued a new rule when it comes to those wishing to apply for a Visa in order to gain access to the United States

The State Department said that it has been a requirement since 2019 for student visa applicants to submit social media accounts on application forms. However, it was not required before that applicants make their accounts public.

Effective immediately, all individuals applying for F, M or J nonimmigrant visas are required to set their social media accounts to “public”. This new requirement is outlined in a notice posted on the US Embassy in Jamaica’s website.
