Kilmar Abrego Garcia, whose case has become a flashpoint in President Donald Trump’s aggressive effort to remove noncitizens from the U.S., was detained by immigration authorities in Baltimore on Monday to face renewed efforts to deport him after a brief period of freedom.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia remains held in an unidentified detention center in Virginia, as his deportation is on hold after U.S. District Judge Paula Xinis extended her order blocking his deportation to Uganda until further notice.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia surrendered to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Baltimore on Monday, just days after his release from jail. ICE alerted his attorneys on Friday that he could be deported to Uganda and was ordered to report to authorities.
