Hurricane Erin is forcing evacuations on North Carolina’s Outer Banks as it churns in the Atlantic where high winds and heavy rain are pelting the Turks and Caicos Islands and parts of the Bahamas.
Local officials issued evacuation orders for parts of the Outer Banks, warning that the storm might wash out roads.
Erin made its up the coast out at sea. Erin made a turn to the northeast and was finally moving away from the United States as a weakened Category 1 hurricane, according to the National Hurricane Center.
