With HTML5, CSS and JavaScript, you can build some pretty nice little games — and without a significant up-front investment.

Microsoft is increasingly beating the HTML5, CSS and JavaScript drum, telling developers earlier this year that these technologies will be key to developing Windows 8 applications.

I asked Microsoft officials for comment on talk that new HTML5 and JavaScript tools may be on the docket and didn't hear back. If/when I do, I'll add any comments they provide.
