There are few ways to make a laptop faster that are as easy and cost-effective as replacing your existing hard drive with a solid state drive (SSD).
So to that end I would like to replace the (I am guessing) 5400 RPM HDD with a SSD and watch it speed up considerably. I don't know where to start with this.
It boots & works fine, but the basic computer is so slow to begin with that it's hard to detect much of a speedup with the SSD.
I ripped out the old hard drive and replaced it with an SSD (solid state drive). This absolutely changed everything. My computer is now blazing fast with a solid-state drive and 16GB of RAM.
