An off-duty US Customs and Border Protection officer was shot in a Manhattan park on Saturday following an apparent robbery gone wrong, New York City police and federal officials said.

Two suspects were charged on Thursday in the shooting of an off-duty U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agent in New York City.

The suspect in the July 7 shooting, identified as 27-year-old Ryan Louis Mosqueda, fired "many rounds" at the federal building that houses the U.S. Border Patrol office at the McAllen International Airport, according to McAllen Police Chief Victor Rodriguez.
