Since Team Cherry first announced Silksong in Feb. 2019, waiting for the game has become a meme unto itself. Fans have characterised themselves as clowns for continuing to wait in the absence of any updates, as well as constantly getting excited then disappointed by rumours of news. Many have joked that Silksong will never actually arrive.

Steam's most-wishlisted game finally has a release date. A couple of days ago, on August 19, Team Cherry confirmed it would make a special announcement for Hollow Knight: Silksong, and it was indeed special.
