Nearly a dozen states in the northern U.S. may have an opportunity to see the northern lights Sunday as geomagnetic storms will likely disrupt Earth’s magnetic field over the next two days, according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Aurora chasers, keep your eyes on the skies this weekend as northern lights might be possible at mid-latitudes.

A geomagnetic storm watch has been issued through Saturday, June 14. Late Thursday evening, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration increased the warning to a higher severity, communicated as a strong G3 warning, for four hours, then dropped the status back down to a moderate G2 early Friday morning.
